Bear

Bear is a minor character introduced during a beach-side adventure involving Diplodicus & Sealion. Although he initially appears terrifying, Bear is actually a polite and hopeful ice cream seller whose family has been trying — and failing — to sell ice cream for generations.

His attempts at attracting customers have always ended in panic and confusion, largely due to his booming growl, which he mistakenly believes sounds welcoming.

Appearance

Bear is a brown bear with a light brown face, hands, feet and tummy. He has cream coloured cheeks and black nose. He also has very large eyebrows!

Personality

Bear is friendly, earnest, and slightly oblivious to how frightening he appears to others. He is enthusiastic about ice cream, keen to please, and genuinely puzzled as to why everyone keeps running away.

Role

Bear’s role in the story is to subvert expectations — appearing as a threat before revealing himself to be harmless and kind. He provides a gentle joke about misunderstanding and helps turn a moment of danger into a sweet ending.
